And the best way to experience it is on the back of your favorite motorcycle. Check out some of the top routes you absolutely have to ride if you’re a motorcycle enthusiast. Now that the state is starting to open up and the weather’s getting nicer, it’s the perfect time to explore new routes. You can also stop by CalMoto for additional tips and to check out our motorcycles for sale. You’ll find our salesroom in Livermore and our service annex in Mountain View, proudly serving San Francisco and San Jose, California.
Route: Oregon Border – Leggett
Let’s start off with one of the northernmost routes on our list, and also one of the longer ones. The Redwood Highway is the nickname given to the portion of the Pacific Coast Highway that runs from the Oregon border to the city of Leggett, a route that takes you through the breathtaking Redwood National Park.
Stop in Crescent City for a break in this famous coastal town, complete with a quaint beachside community and delicious foods. Continue on past the ocean and through quintessential northern California landscapes, onto the monstrous Redwoods themselves. Everyone should have a chance to marvel at these incredible giants. You’ll just have the benefit of enjoying them with your motorcycle.
Route: New Pine Creek – State Hwy 299 – Tule Lake
Near the border on the east side of the state, take your ride past the Warner Ranger, part of the larger Great Basin Ranges, by following Emigrant Trail Scenic Byway. This is where you can get a taste of what generations past might have seen throughout the entire wild west.
The area is built around a rich Native American history and is home to a number of exploration stopping points. Almost entirely untouched since the Euro-American travelers passed through, this ride is one you have to check out. And during this time of year, you’ll have unobstructed views of the vistas around you, so plan your ride today!
Route: Route 36, Alton – Susanville
This one is for our most intrepid riders. California Route 36 stretches for 140 miles, eventually ending just south of Eureka, passing through beautiful scenery, fresh air, smiling sunshine, and did we mention it’s filled with tight curves the entire way?
If you love curvy roads, this is your heaven. All 140 miles meander through forests, mountains, and other natural obstacles that have led to this road twisting and turning through these unforgettable landscapes. We promise this will be one ride for the books if you’re ready for the challenge.
At the end of the day, northern California is your oyster. This part of the state is so stunning, that no matter where you ride, you’ll probably love every moment of it. So throw on your helmet and hit the road! If you still need the motorcycle to get you there, stop by CalMoto and let one of our friendly staff give you the complete tour of available models. We welcome all those from  Livermore, Mountain View, San Francisco and San Jose, California, so visit us today!
